چکیده
In recent years, the rotating electromagnetic field eddy current (RoFEC) testing technique has attracted widespread attention due to its various advantages for inspecting tubular structures. However, most of related work was focused on detecting inner wall defects metal pipes using feed-through probes, which are often not applicable outer defect detection. This pushes forward encircling RoFEC and demonstrates feasibility defects. First, basic principle is introduced. A three-dimensional finite element (FE) model built in COMSOL analyse distribution study interaction between currents. The axial component resultant magnetic selected as a characteristic signal obtained from FE models factors, including pipe tilt, circumferential location, orientation size, that influence detection performance. An system probe with six excitation windings single bobbin pickup coil constructed used inspect steel one defect. voltage can form Lissajous pattern impedance plane be evaluation. results showed detect both orientations determine location

An Eddy Current Testing Platform System for Pipe Defect Inspection Based on an Optimized Eddy Current Technique Probe Design
The use of the eddy current technique (ECT) for the non-destructive testing of conducting materials has become increasingly important in the past few years. The use of the non-destructive ECT plays a key role in the ensuring the safety and integrity of the large industrial structures such as oil and gas pipelines. This paper introduce a novel ECT probe design integrated with the distributed ECT...

In contrast to single frequency conventional eddy current technique (ECT), in pulse ECT the coil is excited by repetitive broadband pulse. The pulsed excitation contains wide spectrum of frequencies. Each frequency has different penetrability and hence using pulsed eddy current (PEC) technique, large areas of structure with multiple variations in thickness can be scanned without the need for pa...

The number of aging nuclear power plants (NPPs) has increased recently. Accordingly, the number of operational interruptions has increased due to malfunctions of the NPPs secondary systems. These cases occur in the secondary systems of NPPs with a range of structures due to fatigue, wall-thinned defects, corrosion, etc. Of these problems, wall thinned defects occur in the pipes by the diffusion...

Detection of Metal Defects on Gas Distribution Pipeline by Remote Field Eddy Current (RFEC) Using Finite-Element Analysis — It is necessary to find out whether there are metal defects on underground gas distribution pipelines without excavation in order to establish safety strategies for replacement or maintenance. The metal defects are classified into general corrosion, stress corrosion cracki...
